Itinerary
Day 1 Aosta
Fly to Turin and pick up your car to drive to your hotel nestled in the valley where you will be based for the week. Why not spend the first day exploring the charming and historic capital, Aosta which has been nicknamed the ‘Rome of the Alps’ due to its impressive Roman archaeological sites.
Day 2 Aosta Valley
Perhaps spend today on an exciting road trip taking you to all the best castles and manors of the area, passing magical alpine villages, flowing rivers and perfect picnic stops as you go. Some particularly iconic castles to visit would be Fenis Castle, one of the most beautiful and bestpreserved medieval fortresses of the valley with towers and crenelated walls that give it a fairy-tale like appearance. Savoy Castle gains its popularity not only for its beautiful appearance but also its breathtaking location nestled among alpine gardens in the picturesque Gressoney-Saint-Jean commune. Finally, the Fortress of Bard is worth visiting, not only for its beautiful location, but also for the four fascinating museums housed within it.
Day 3 Gran Paradiso National Park
Drive to the nearby Gran Paradiso National Park and hike one of the many beautiful trails in this protected area. Surrounded by snowy peaks, thundering waterfalls, towering fir trees, glistening lakes, and home to the ibex and chamois who thrive in this area.
Day 4 Pré-Saint-Didier and Mont Blanc Adventure Park
Perhaps spend your day at the commune of Pre-Saint-Didier which boasts an array of exciting adrenaline activities, the Mont Blanc Advnture Park, as well as calming thermal springs for which it first gained its popularity. Raft along the flowing waters of Dora Baltea, explore the beautiful nearby hamlets or walk along the Orrido skywalk which offers sweeping views over the ravine, thermal springs, Mont Blanc and the valleys.
Day 5 Aosta Valley
For your final full day in the mountains, perhaps opt for another walking trail you missed, visit another picturesque village, or spend a day at the spas, relaxing and rejuvenating from your activities. For spectacular views, enjoy the journey up Skyway Monte Blanc – an impressive rotating cable car with 360-degree views, taking you to the highest point in Italy.
Day 6 Fly home
Drive to Turin airport and drop off your car before your flight.
