Discover Charming Lucca

Day 1  Lucca
Fly into Pisa and board your comfortable train to the beautiful city of Lucca, situated in the northwest of Tuscany. On arrival, settle into your hotel and enjoy a traditional dinner at one of the numerous nearby restaurants accompanied by a glass of Tuscan red wine.

Day 2  Lucca
Explore the city and take in the imposing Renaissance era city walls, originally built for fortification. The historic centre has beautiful views of the city below, making it a great way to get your bearings. Afterwards, join your guided walking tour to explore some of the city’s epic landmarks including the Church of San Michele in Foro, the Basilica of San Frediano, and Lucca Cathedral, featuring a stunning mosaic façade.

Day 3  Lucca
Start today with a challenging but rewarding climb to the top of the 15th Century Torre Guinigi, famous for its seven lofty trees perched atop the tower. From the viewing platform, enjoy an uninterrupted panorama of Lucca, making out the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre, the rooftops of the traditional town houses and the lush surrounding countryside. Afterwards, tuck into some local ‘tortelli lucchesi’ at one of the delightful restaurants in the bustling Piazza dell’Anfiteatro and then cool off with a stroll through the enchanting, baroque-styled Palazzo Pfanner gardens, gelato in hand.

Day 4  Transfer to Pisa and fly home
Enjoy a final morning in beautiful Lucca before catching your train to Pisa, connecting onto your onward flight. Alternatively, why not extend your trip with a stay in Pisa or an Italian private villa in the idyllic Tuscan countryside.
