Days 2-4  Lake Como

Pull out the camera as you begin your idyllic countryside escape, featuring gorgeous mountain viewpoints and picturesque lakeside promenades. Wintertime is a magical season to visit Lake Como, as you can experience fewer crowds and can admire the snow-capped mountain peaks surrounding the lake. While here, why not enjoy a scenic boat ride on the lake taking in views of the lakeside villages and elegant villas dotted along the waters edge, nestled among the wintery foliage. Pick up a few gifts or souvenirs from Mercato Mercerie, Lake Como’s famous open-air market, which pops up in the heart of Como’s historic district various days each week, featuring local arts and crafts, clothing and regional foodie treats.

Days 5-6  Lake Garda
Arrive to Lake Garda after an inspiring drive through Italy’s lake region. Wrap up warm and perhaps enjoy a peaceful walk around Arco’s sprawling olive grove, with incredible views of Arco Castle ahead. Later, opt to visit the spectacular town of Sirmione, set on a peninsular on the southern shores of the lake and which is famous for its magnificent Castle, one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Italy. If seeking a boost of energy, round off your time in Lake Garda at Italy’s most popular amusement park, Gardaland, which spans a sizable stretch of the south edge of Lake Garda, featuring 37 roller coasters, a sea life centre and a Legoland waterpark.

Days 7-8  Val Gardena
From Lake Garda, make your way to the stunning Italian Alps, widely recognised as offering some of the most striking scenery in Europe. During your stay here, you could begin your day with exhilarating ski and snowboard runs down well-groomed slopes before embracing the popping Italian après ski atmosphere at your resort’s numerous vibrant bars and restaurants. In your down-time enjoy an Alpine fondu or warm mulled wine, while overlooking the impressive snowy peaks from the welcoming mountain huts scattered throughout the resorts.

Days 9-11  Cortina d’Ampezzo
After a leisurely breakfast, venture to what is known as the ‘Queen of the Dolomites’, Cortina d’Ampezzo, known for its sublime ski slopes and fashionable boutiques. In addition to ski and snowboarding, visitors can also opt for Cortina’s memorable snowshoeing trails and adorable husky sledding tours. If cross-country skiing is your preference, you cannot do much better than the extensive routes offered at Cortina, featuring pre-cut tracks with varying terrains suitable for all abilities. Unwind and relax at Cortina’s welcoming bars, restaurants and spas, and why not check out the designer shops located on the main shopping street, Corso Italia?
