Journey to Classical Rome & Athens

Day 1  Rome, Italy              
Arrive into beautiful Rome and meet your private transfer to your hotel. Known as one of the world’s most inspiring and romantic cities, relax into la dolce vita lifestyle by roaming the picturesque streets.              

Day 2  Rome              
Today explore the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel at your leisure with a Skip the Line admission ticket. Avoid the queues as you get escorted through the dedicated no-wait museum entrance and independently explore the galleries from Raphael’s Rooms to Michelangelo’s incredible Sistine Chapel. This evening, relax in an alfresco setting where you can indulge in a delicious dinner at a local pizzeria.              

Day 3  Rome              
Start today in the colourful district of Trastevere for your included food tour. Experience some of Rome’s best local cuisine as you explore the bustling market and visit one of the city’s most authentic bakeries before enjoying some delicious natural gelato. Spend this afternoon at leisure navigating more of Rome’s enchanting streets and iconic landmarks, including the world-famous Trevi Fountain, the imposing Colosseum and the Pantheon, one of the greatest Roman Temples.              

Day 4  Rome to Athens, Greece        
Enjoy a final Italian coffee before picking up some souvenirs and transferring back to the airport for the short flight to Athens. This afternoon, why not take the traditional cable car to the highest spot in Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where you can observe beautiful views over the entire city. If time allows, stroll the famous neighbourhood of Plaka, boasting narrow laneways of small enthralling museums, ancient sights and historic churches, and enjoy a coffee in a local café.    
Day 5  Athens              
This morning, delve into Greek history and legends on your included tour of the Acropolis. Explore renowned sites like the Temple of Athena Nike and the legendary Parthenon. Continue to the Acropolis Museum to marvel at original treasures from the temples of the Acropolis. Later, awaken your senses with your included Greek food walking tour. Sample traditional delicacies and local treats, all washed down with ample Greek wine!          

Day 6  Athens            
Today rise early to immerse yourself in the myths and monuments of classical Greece on this full-day tour of Delphi. Explore the UNESCO-listed archaeological site of Delphi with a guide and learn how the city was considered the ‘Centre of the World’ in ancient Greece. Stand in awe before the dramatically situated Temple of Apollo, then discover long-lost wonders at the Delphi Archaeological Museum, including the Charioteer of Delphi and the Sphinx of Naxos. Arrive back into Athens this evening to enjoy one final dinner in this enchanting city.              

Day 7  Athens              
Cherish your final morning with a gentle stroll through the National Gardens. Tucked away in the heart of Athens, the gardens provide a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Later, transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
