Pompeii, Capri & the Bay of Naples

Day 1  Sorrento      
Fly to Naples and transfer to your hotel in Sorrento, home for the next seven nights.

Day 2  Sorrento     
Spend your first day exploring Sorrento on a short walking tour. The area is dotted with elegant shops selling luxury leather goods and shoes, and cosy restaurants nestled in the typically Mediterranean pastel-coloured buildings. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon at leisure, perhaps try the local limoncello or lemon-flavoured gelato.

Day 3 Pompeii  
Head to Pompeii for a guided tour of this fascinating city that was decimated by the huge volcanic eruption of Vesuvius. Your guided tour of the Roman town highlights its astonishing state of preservation, with the streets, temples, baths and even amphitheatre remaining largely intact. Afterwards, wind through the hills and lemon groves to a rustic, family-owned working farm and enjoy an authentic farm lunch featuring delicious, locally produced ingredients.

Day 4  Capri      
Take a short boat ride to the worldrenowned island of Capri to uncover its charm. One of the most desirable areas in the Bay of Naples, attracting Roman emperors, writers and Hollywood stars. Explore the whitewashed shops and restaurants lining the busy quayside or venture to the Blue Grotto, a large sea cave named after the radiant blue light that bathes the cavern.

Day 5  Sorrento      
Today is at leisure in Sorrento, perhaps browse the numerous boutiques or enjoy a relaxed lunch in one of the many delicious local restaurants that the town has to offer.

Day 6  Amalfi Coast      
Experience the beautiful Amalfi Coast, starting in Positano. This exclusive village sits on the cliff face and guarantees picture perfect views. Continue to the charming town of Ravello and visit the exquisite Villa Rufolo gardens.

Day 7  Herculaneum       
This morning, you will be taken to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Herculaneum. This lesser-known settlement was also buried during the eruption of Vesuvius that covered Pompeii in 79AD. Only properly excavated in the late 18th Century, wander these wellpreserved ruins with a local guide as they bring history to life.

Day 8  Transfer to Naples and fly home
