Rome & Florence by Rail

Day 1  Rome        
Arrive into Rome and make your own way to our hotel. Get acquainted with the Eternal City, perhaps walk along the River Tiber or visit the city’s botanical gardens.

Day 2  Rome        
Spend the morning exploring the beautiful Vatican Museum with a knowledgeable guide before gazing upon Michaelangelo’s world-famous murals in the Sistine Chapel. For dinner, perhaps head to an authentic restaurant in charming Trastevere.

Day 3  Rome        
Marvel at the breathtaking Colosseum and learn about its fascinating history before heading to the nearby Palatine Hill where you can enjoy a magnificent view over the city. From here, stroll to the base of the hill where you will reach Piazza Venezia, Rome’s most central square. Enjoy a more leisurely pace exploring any remaining attractions you ran out of time for on your first couple days or indulge in a well-earned rest, savouring a drink or bite to eat at the numerous restaurants or cafes nearby.

Day 4  Rome to Florence        
Travel on board Italy’s comfortable high-speed rail network to the beautiful city of Florence. This evening, be sure to walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo and marvel at the panoramic vistas of this stunning city, before enjoying the delicious food and wine this region is famous for.

Day 5  Florence        
Today discover the stunning architecture and fine art of Florence. Not to be missed is the Il Domo di Firenze, majestically dominating the skyline. The terracotta dome is easily the city’s most iconic landmark and your included entry allows you to skip the line.

Day 6  Florence        
Take a visit to the Pitti Palace, the main residence of the famous Medici family which houses several galleries and museums, giving you a chance to admire a wonderful blend of art and history before then taking a relaxed stroll through the Boboli Gardens in the surrounding grounds.

Day 7  Florence        
It’s now time to say goodbye, depending on the time of your onward flight, you may wish to have one last leisurely bite to eat in the square or a stroll along the picturesque Arno River before catching your flight home.
