Venice, Rome & the Amalfi Coast by Rail

Day 1  Venice      
Start your Italian adventure in vibrant Venice by transferring to your hotel. This afternoon, opt to stroll through the narrow walkways and bridges along the sprawling canals of this unique city.        

Day 2  Venice      
Head over to St Mark’s Square, home to the magnificent Basilica di San Marco to start your tour. Skip the line and marvel at the ornate intricacies of this incredible structure and discover the history behind it. Journey back through time as you roam the corridors of Doge’s Palace and absorb the fascinating history of the building. Experience the beauty of Venice from the water as you cruise along on a typical gondola, exploring the majestic waterways framed by towering Venetian Palaces.      
     
Day 3  Venice to Rome      
After a leisurely morning, make your way to the train station for your journey to Rome. Admire the rolling hills of the gorgeous Tuscan countryside as you sit back and relax. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel before heading out to explore the streets of Italy’s capital and perhaps savour some mouth-watering pizza or pasta.

Day 4  Rome      
Spend the morning exploring Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel which boasts a unique collection of both artistic and architectural masterpieces. Skip the line and enjoy your informative guided tour around the ornate halls and galleries. This afternoon, why not walk around the city taking in some of the traditional landmarks and tucking into a yummy gelato.  

Day 5  Rome        
This morning, journey back in time and walk the footsteps of the gladiators at the Colosseum whilst marvelling at this historic structure. Relish is your guide’s stories about the arena floor and the Gladiators’ Gate with some additional insight into the Roman forum. After a typical Italian lunch, perhaps explore the ruins at the Roman Forum, the ancient city of Rome. Spend the remainder of your day wandering the streets where archaeological sites and elaborate buildings are visible from every corner.      

Day 6  Rome to the Amalfi Coast      
Take a stroll down Via del Corso and browse the shops for any final purchases before heading to the station. Leave the lively capital on your short train journey to Naples and appreciate the beautiful views of the mountains and the sea along the way. Take your private transfer to your hotel on the renowned Amalfi Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a backdrop of the verdant Lattari mountains cascading into the glistening Tyrrhenian Sea.      

Days 7-8  Amalfi Coast  
Live la dolce vita, basking in the sun, admiring the spectacular sea views. If you are feeling more active, why not walk into Amalfi town, potter around the local shops and cafés or have a typical Italian coffee whilst watching the world go by at Piazza del Duomo? Opt to explore the quintessential labyrinth of steep streets, alleys and stairways representative of the area, hike the spectacular coastal paths, take public transport along the scenic 16^th Century road to some of the surrounding pastel-coloured, quaint villages or perhaps take to the turquoise waters on a relaxing local boat tour.

Day 9  Amalfi Coast      
After breakfast, soak up your last dose of the Amalfi sun before your private transfer to Naples airport for your onward journey.
