Oslo & Bergen by Rail

Days 1-3  Oslo  
Arrive into Oslo and make your way by train to your hotel. Norway’s capital city boasts a fascinating mix of old and new. Discover rich history at the Viking Ship Museum or explore Akershus Castle, an imposing medieval fortress overlooking the harbour. Perhaps spend the day shopping in the main shopping street of Karl Johans Gate or enjoy some of the many green spaces across the city from the Vigeland Sculpture Park to the Royal Palace gardens. There are many architecture wonders including the imposing Norwegian National Opera House and the neighbouring Munch Museum dedicated to the life and works of the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. During your time in this vibrant city, escape to beautiful nature aboard your Silent Oslofjord cruise. Glide past tiny islands and quaint Norwegian cottages before deploying an underwater drone to seek out life beneath the surface.    

Day 4  Oslo to Bergen          
Head to Oslo Central station where you will join the iconic Bergen Railway onwards to Bergen. This seven hour journey will take you through rolling countryside, past picturesque lakes, incredible mountainscapes and idyllic fjord-side villages. Settle down for the journey and watch the landscape transform. Arriving in Bergen, make your way to your hotel.  

Days 5-7  Bergen  
The gateway to the Norwegian Fjords, Bergen is a bustling city filled with charming streets, plenty of history and easy access to wonderful green spaces. Begin your stay by joining your included Bergen to Mostraumen Cruise that takes you through the Mostraumen straits to admire wonderful waterfalls and the mountains tower that tower above. Back in Bergen, step back in time as you wander through the wooden houses of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Bryggen before sampling delicious freshly caught dishes at the historic fish market that has been the heartbeat of the city for many centuries. The seven mountains surrounding Bergen offer an abundance of hiking trails, mountain biking, ziplining and other activities that can be arranged locally. The Fløibanen funicular that takes you up Mount Fløyen is just a short walk from the harbour and treats you to wonderful aerial views of the city and ocean from the mountaintop bar. On your final morning, make your own way by rail to the airport or to the cruise port for your onward journey.
