Itinerary

Day 1  Fly to Lisbon
On arrival enjoy a private transfer to your hotel, before heading out to explore the sights and sounds of Portugal’s vibrant capital city. Visit the Belem area to see the dramatic Monument to the Discoveries, a huge sculpture celebrating Portugal’s adventurous past. While there be sure to check out the Belem tower and visit Pasteis de Belem to sample the iconic custard tarts. This evening why not continue your journey of gastronomic discovery with a visit to the Time Out Market and choose from over 50 revered eateries?

Day 2  Lisbon
This morning, discover the landmarks and charms of Lisbon on your included private walking tour. Wander the maze-like cobblestone streets of Alfama, ride the ornate Santa Justa Lift and explore the lively neighbourhood of Bario Alto, all while learning about Lisbon’s fascinating history and culture from your expert local guide. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

Days 3-6  Cascais and the Portuguese Riviera
After a leisurely breakfast, pick up your rental car and make for the splendid sandy beaches of the Portuguese Riviera, historically the summer playground of Portuguese royalty and the rich and famous. Cascais and its surrounding area offers a perfect fusion of culture, relaxation and dramatic coastline, making it the perfect gateway to explore the region. Golden sands and calm waters can be found at Praia da Duquesa or Praia da Raina, while the town also boasts fantastic museums including the striking Paula Rego museum and the Santa Marta Lighthouse. Nearby Estoril’s Casino was the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s Casino Royal, the book that introduced the world to James Bond. The coastline north of Cascais offers plenty of dramatic scenery including the wild sea arch of Boca do Inferno and the dramatic cliff formations at Cabo do Roca, the westernmost part of mainland Europe. Watersports and beach enthusiasts should visit the gorgeous Guincho beach, which has played host to several international surfing events as well as being featured in the introduction to the film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. Within easy reach of Cascais lies Sintra, set nestled among mountains, beautiful forests and botanical gardens. Famed for its fairytale castles - the colourful Pena Palace and the striking ancient battlements of the Castelos de Mouros, there is much to see in the fabulous, ancient town.

Day 7  Fly home
Enjoy a final leisurely stroll along the gorgeous beaches of Cascais before returning to Lisbon, dropping off your car and getting your flight home.
