Itinerary
Day 1 Barcelona
Arrive in Barcelona and transfer to your hotel, ideally situated minutes by foot from luxurious Passeig de Gracia and landmarks by Antoni Gaudi. Meet your tour group at a welcome cocktail reception and dinner this evening.
Day 2 Barcelona
Barcelona is an exceptional city overflowing with history, art and culture. Your day begins with an overview of Barcelona including stops at Montjuic Hill and Port Olimpic, sites of the 1992 Olympics, and a visit to La Sagrada Familia, the unfinished cathedral designed by Antoni Gaudí I Cornet. After a lunch of Catalan specialities, the remainder of the day is yours to discover more of the city as you please.
Day 3 Barcelona to Granada
From Barcelona, take a morning flight to the seaside city of Málaga on the Costa del Sol, hometown of the artist Pablo Picasso; this historic Andalusian city is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on Earth, chronicling some 3,000 years of civilization. After free time for lunch, join a guided visit through Museo Picasso Málaga – a museum displaying nearly 300 works by Picasso in historic buildings just a few hundred meters from the artist's birthplace. Continue to Granada, a jewel of the Sierra Nevada foothills in southern Spain, where you'll enjoy dinner and wine at your hotel.
Day 4 Granada to Seville
Join a guided tour of Alhambra Palace, exploring its intrepid halls, as well as Generalife, the summer palace and country estate of the Nasrid rulers. After lunch, continue to Seville via Andalucía, a melting pot of different cultures sometimes referred to as the bridge between two continents; journey through Andalusia's rolling hills and view charming villages with whitewashed houses clinging to the hillsides. Arrive in romantic Seville, where your two-night stay kicks off with a private performance of flamenco dancing followed by dinner.
Day 5 Seville
Get your bearings on an orientation tour of this spectacular city dating back nearly 2,000 years. A horse and carriage ride transports you through Maria Luisa Park, before a walking tour introduces you to the Barrio de Santa Cruz and the maze of old streets found in the former Jewish Quarter. Your time in Seville will be capped off with either a visit to the impressive Seville Cathedral or the spectacular Royal Alcazar. The remainder of the day is free to explore.
Day 6 Seville to Madrid
Take a tour of the charming Moorish-influenced city of Córdoba, walking through the historic former Jewish Quarter and visiting the ornate 8th Century La Mezquita, once one of the world's largest mosques, now a Roman Catholic cathedral. Travel by train to Madrid, Spain's marvellous capital city.
Day 7 Madrid
Begin the day in magnificent Madrid with a guided tour of the famed Museo Nacional del Prado, one of the finest art museums in the world. Later, a city sightseeing tour takes you to highlights including Palacio de Oriente, the ornate Royal Palace built in the 18th Century; grand avenues such as Gran Via and Castellana, and Retiro Park. The afternoon is free to explore as you please. Enjoy typical Castilian entertainment at a farewell cocktail reception and dinner this evening.
Day 8 Madrid
