Itinerary
Welcome to Santander, upon arrival make your way to your hotel. Over the next few days, soak up the history of this charming city. Wander through Paseo de Pereda gardens and stroll around the historic city centre. Make sure to visit Plaza Porticada, one of the liveliest and symbolic areas of the city, having been rebuilt as the new city centre after fires in 1941. The city also boasts a seaside location, so benefits from lovely sea views and fresh traditional fish dishes such as rabas (fried squid) and mejillones (mussels). In the evenings, take to the energetic Plaza de Cañadío square, share some tapas and venture to the numerous bars.
Days 4-6 La Rioja
This morning, pick up your car and enjoy the scenic drive to the rural vineyards of La Rioja. Whilst here, discover Spain’s premier winemaking region. Opt to visit the numerous traditional and family-run wineries and sample a few of the premium wines. To see the history of this stunning region, why not drive to the walled medieval city of Laguardia? Spend time strolling the streets of the picturesque city, taking in the sights of the most architecturally significant wineries in the region.
Day 7 La Rioja
Enjoy your final morning before taking once more picturesque drive back to Santander to drop off your car.
