Classic Glacier & Bernina Express

Day 1  Zurich to Zermatt                              
Arrive into Zurich and travel by rail to Zermatt, set in the foothills of  the Matterhorn.                    

Days 2-3  Zermatt              
Spend two full days exploring the mountains that surround this traditional alpine town. Perhaps join the Matterhorn Glacier Ride, leading you to Klein Matterhorn, Europe’s highest mountain station at 3,821m for spectacular views. On day 3, why not take the cog railway along the Gornergrat ridge, making use of the stops en route to explore the Alps by foot, while mesmerising views of the Matterhorn’s iconic peak await at the top.          

Day 4  Zermatt to St Moritz              
Climb aboard the famous Glacier Express and relax in the comfort of your spacious carriage. Known as the world’s Slowest Express Train, the journey takes 7½ hours, as spectacular Swiss mountain scenery unfolds outside the train’s panoramic windows as you roll into glamorous St Moritz.                

Days 5-6  St Moritz              
Today, perhaps take a leisurely boat cruise over tranquil Lake St Moritz. On day 6, choose to venture into the mountain air with a cable car ride to the summit of Piz Nair, offering incredible views of the beautiful valleys, glaciers and lakes below. Alternatively, for a more leisurely mountain experience, visit one of St. Moritz’ renowned spas.        

Day 7  Bernina Express                  
Today, a real treat is in store as you climb aboard the Bernina Express. Travel in panoramic carriages through the Swiss Alps, roll by tranquil Lago Bianco and pass over the architectural marvel of the Brusio Circular Viaduct. Arrive in the quaint Italian town of Tirano with time for an Italian lunch, before stepping back on board for your return journey.                

Day 8  St. Moritz to Zurich    
On your last day, take a final train journey back to Zurich for your onward flight.
