Itinerary
Explore the magnificent medieval squares and World Heritage listed buildings of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, plus nearby Patan and Bhaktapur before travelling to lakeside Pokhara. Enjoy the town’s laidback atmosphere and soak up the panoramic views of the Annapurna mountain range. Continue to Chitwan National Park in search of exotic wildlife including the elusive tiger and one-horned rhino before returning to Kathmandu.
Days 9-16 Bhutan
Fly from Kathmandu to Paro in Bhutan – in clear weather the views of the Himalayas are simply spectacular! Travel to Thimphu, the tiny capital of this remote mountain kingdom, then continue across the Dochula Pass (3,088m) to Punakha, home to the Punakha Dzong – one of Bhutan’s most impressive dzongs (fortified monasteries). The final highlight is Paro and the impressive Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, perched on a rocky edge 900m above the valley floor. Hike up to the monastery for spectacular views across the valley before it is time to bid farewell to this captivating kingdom.
