Sri Lankan Coastal Journey

Day 1  Fly to Colombo    

Day 2  Colombo      
Welcome to Sri Lanka. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.      

Days 3-4  Colombo  
Start today with a morning tour of the city by tuk-tuk. Visit colourful Pettah market before exploring some of the city’s historic sites and finishing your tour at the iconic Galle Buck Lighthouse. After some time to relax, head out late in the afternoon to meet your guide for a fascinating foodie walking tour. Spend your remaining time here visiting several eateries to sample some of the flavours of Sri Lanka from authentic traditional cuisine to modern fusion dishes. Learn about the history the Kotte Kingdom played in shaping the future of Sri Lanka and cycle through side streets. Visit historic archaeological sites and a local bird sanctuary before finishing your ride with a visit to the Kotte Museum.      

Day 5  Colombo to Galle      
Depart Colombo by train and travel down the west coast to Galle. From pretty much start to end, the railway line hugs the island’s Indian Ocean coastline, showcasing fabulous ocean views. On arrival transfer to your hotel in the atmospheric Galle Fort.    

Days 6-7  Galle  
Spend the morning visiting a tea plantation situated just outside Galle which is famous for its unique white tea. Later, head out on a walking tour of Galle Fort with a local resident to see its beautiful colonial buildings and learn about its history. The following day, discover the surrounding countryside and learn about the ingredients and techniques of Sri Lankan cuisine.    

Days 8-13  Galle to Wadduwa      
Head to Sri Lanka’s incredible, rugged southwest coast. Spend the next few days unwinding on the gold sand beaches, wandering around the surrounding area, and feasting on the spectacular local cuisine.    

Days 14-15  Transfer to Colombo and fly home
