Itinerary
Days 2-3 Bogotá
Arrive in Colombia’s lively capital city and transfer to your hotel. The next day, enjoy a half day city tour, visit La Candelaria, Bogotá’s historic quarter, before learning about Colombia’s history in the Gold Museum. Take the cable car up Monserrate Hill for spectacular views over the city.
Day 4 Bogotá to the Coffee Region
Journey north to Zipaquirá to see the impressive underground cathedral carved into an old salt mine. Return to Bogotá and fly to Pereira in the Coffee Region.
Day 5 Coffee Region
Admire the beautiful scenery as you discover how Colombian coffee is produced from harvest to cup with a visit to a local coffee plantation.
Day 6 Coffee Region
Enjoy a walk in the cloud forest of the Valle de Cocora and explore the charming towns of Salento and Filandia. Marvel at the huge wax palms and look out for a variety of birdlife, including hummingbirds, which make this area their home.
Day 7 Coffee Region to Medellín
Journey by road to cosmopolitan Medellín and take a tour to learn about the city’s incredible transformation since the death of Pablo Escobar. Travel via the escalators of the once infamous Comuna 13 and admire the many sculptures in Plaza Botero, donated by the acclaimed artist Fernando Botero.
Day 8 Guatapé
Today you will visit picturesque Guatapé. Stop at the enormous El Peñól rock, where you can choose to climb the 654 steps for spectacular views at the top (payable locally). Explore the cobbled streets lined with quaint pastel coloured houses in the lakeside village before a visit to the Guatapé reservoir.
Day 9 Medellín to Tayrona NP
Fly to Santa Marta and continue by road to breathtaking Tayrona National Park.
Day 10 Tayrona NP
Enjoy a day exploring the national park with your local guide. Walk along the network of trails to discover rugged beaches and dense jungle. Look out for wildlife including monkeys, caiman and an exceptional variety of colourful birds.
Day 11 Tayrona NP to Cartagena
Journey to Cartagena with a scenic drive along the picturesque Caribbean coast.
Day 12 Cartagena
Explore the city with a tour including a visit to the imposing San Felipe Fortress, built by the Spanish to defend the city from pirate attacks.
Day 13 Cartagena
Enjoy a day at leisure to soak up the romantic atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Days 14-15 Fly home
Additional Options: Soaking up the sun on the gorgeous beaches of the Caribbean coastline is a fantastic way to end your holiday in Colombia. Whilst this itinerary includes a few days in the wonderful town of Cartagena overlooking the Caribbean Sea, a stay at any one of the beautiful beachfront resorts nearby can be easily incorporated into your tour.
