One of the world’s most magnificent sights, the Angkor Archaeological Park boasts the ruins of hundreds of ancient temples. Start at Ta Prohm, one of the most picturesque and memorable of the Angkor temples before exploring the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Great Khmer Empire. Enter the city through the ancient South Gate, an impressive stone gate carved with elephants and four giant faces. Continue to impressive 12th Century Bayon temple which is at the exact centre of the city.
After lunch (payable locally), head over to majestic Angkor Wat. End your day at a viewpoint, watching the sun set over its grounds and the jungle beyond.
