Treasures of Laos

Day 1  Luang Prabang      
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, meet your guide and visit the Xieng Thong Temple, the most ancient temple of Luang Prabang. Afterwards, stroll through the evening food and craft markets before dinner on the Mekong riverside.

Day 2  Luang Prabang & Kuang Si Falls      
Set out on a guided tour of Luang Prabang. Begin by climbing the 328 steps that lead to the hilltop offering panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside. Next, head to the former Royal Palace where you will explore the history of Laos. Before lunch, marvel at the active monasteries and celebrated temples of Wat Mai and Wat Sensoukarahm. Later, continue to Kuang Si Falls. These waterfalls cascade down a multilevel limestone formation creating a series of turquoise blue pools perfect for swimming. The jungle and dense woods surrounding the falls are perfect for exploring on foot. In the evening, enjoy the sunset at the picturesque temple of Vat That Luang and a private Baci ceremony, a traditional ritual of the Lao people expressing the spirituality of the country.

Day 3  Luang Prabang & Pak Ou Caves      
After breakfast, board a traditional longboat to cruise along the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves. Journey past small villages and beautiful countryside. Locally known as Tam Ting, the Pak Ou Caves are a popular destination for local pilgrimages. Carved out of the towering limestone cliffs, the two small caves contain thousands of Buddha statues. Back on board, cruise to a quiet cliffside location for lunch before returning to Luang Prabang for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 4  Luang Prabang to Vientiane      
Depart Luang Prabang and travel the scenic journey to the capital, Vientiane by highspeed train. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 5  Vientiane      
This morning, travel out of the city to visit Buddha Park, an open-air sculpture park built in the 1950s. It features over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues, including a famous 40 metre reclining Buddha and a giant, walk-through pumpkin. After lunch, step into the hidden charms of Vientiane. Begin at the tranquil temple, Wat Sisaket, known for its teak covered hallways and thousands of miniature Buddha statues. Pass by the Presidential Palace, and on to the Patuxay monument, where you can climb stairs to the roof for sweeping panoramic views of the city. Finish your tour at the spectacular That Luang, the holiest site in Laos.

Day 6  Vientiane      
Savour a final breakfast and transfer to the airport for your onward travel arrangements.
