Highlights of Thailand by Road and Rail

Day 1  Fly to Bangkok

Days 2-4  Bangkok
Bold and boisterous Bangkok is a dazzling whirlwind that will leave you wanting for more. Soak up everything that Thailand’s capital has to offer; whizz through busy streets in colourful tuk-tuks to visit glittering temples, peruse amidst the hullabaloo at maze-like markets, and scour food stalls and world-class restaurants alike for the city’s best Pad Thai. Admire Bangkok’s twinkling skyline from a rooftop bar as evening descends and the city becomes a spectacle of light.

Days 5-6  Bangkok to Khanom via Surat Thani
Say a fond farewell to Bangkok and transfer to Bang Sue Central Station, where a guide will help you board your overnight train to Surat Thani. From your basic but comfortable private cabin, watch as urban sprawl melds into verdant countryside. Upon alighting the train, you will be transferred to your hotel in Khanom.

Days 7-8  Khanom
An unspoilt coastal paradise with miles of soft white sand beaches that stretch into the horizon, lined with swaying palms and jungle-clad mountains. Relatively undeveloped, this hidden gem is a peaceful retreat and a vivid contrast to Bangkok.  Go in search of the rare pink dolphins for which this region is famed or follow the walking trails of the national park to graceful waterfalls and welcoming plunge pools that offer a refreshing place to take a dip.

Day 9  Khanom to Khao Sok NP
This morning you will be picked up and taken on a scenic drive to Elephant Hills Tented Camp in Khao Sok National Park. Pass rural villages and limestone monoliths as the landscape around you transitions from coastal into the dense greenery of rainforest. Begin your stay with an unforgettable experience feeding the elephants before enjoying a canoe safari up the Sok river.

Days 10-11  Khao Sok NP
Take a speedboat through the fig tree channels, followed by a chance to kayak up the winding mangrove passages looking out for macaques swinging in the trees above. The next day starts with a longtail boat journey on stunning Cheow Larn Lake and after lunch, take a swim or explore the spectacular surroundings by canoe.

Days 12-15  Krabi
Start your morning with one last jungle trek before your onward transfer to Krabi. An area that boasts spectacular beaches, lively towns and towering limestone cliffs surrounded by gorgeous islands. Stroll along the white sand beachfront of Ao Nang stopping by one of the many restaurants for traditional cuisine with a view or maybe jump on a longtail boat  to nearby Railay Beach, famous for its turquoise waters and hidden coves waiting to be explored.

Days 16-17  Fly home
