Sapa Extension

Day 1  Hanoi to Lao Cai  
This evening, transfer to Hanoi railway station to board the overnight train to Lao Cai, the main gateway to Sapa. As the train departs the energetic capital, settle in and enjoy the unique experience of travelling across the Vietnamese countryside at night. Known for exceptional and diverse landscapes, the Sapa region is home to emerald rice terraces, deep valleys, cascading rivers and towering mountain peaks. The cooler mountain climate and dramatic scenery offer a refreshing contrast to Vietnam’s lively cities.

Day 2  Lao Cai to Sapa    
Arrive in Lao Cai and take a scenic drive uphill to Sapa. The journey reveals breathtaking views of mist covered valleys and beautiful terraced hillsides. Sapa is considered the tourism heart of Northern Vietnam and is renowned for its rich diverse cultures. Enjoy a guided walking tour through the town and visit the colourful local market, where the locals gather to trade. Later, travel out of town to Hang Da village, stopping en route to admire panoramic views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Upon arrival, take a leisurely stroll through the terraced rice fields and visit charming Hmong hamlets, gaining insight into traditional rural life.

Day 3  Sapa    
Today, venture north from Sapa through the spectacular mountain scenery to explore some of the region’s lesser visited villages. After lunch, enjoy a 4-5 hour guided walk along pleasant, rolling countryside trails that connect village to village. Along the way, experience the ancient cultural traditions of the Red Dao hill communities and learn about their fascinating way of life.

Day 4  Sapa to Hanoi    
Return by road to Hanoi for your onward travel arrangements.
