Itinerary
Fly to Cancun. Start your Mexican adventure with a private tour exploring the fascinating Yucatán Peninsula. Your first stop is Chichén Itzá – one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Stay right next to this magnificent archaeological site, justifiably one of Mexico’s most famous Mayan ruins. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2 Chichén Itzá to Mérida
Rise early and take a morning tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, set in the dense Mexican rainforest. It will take you back in time to the pre-Hispanic era to discover what life was like during those days. Later, transfer to Mérida, the cultural capital of the Yucatán state, a city rich in colonial history. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring at your leisure.
Day 3 Uxmal & Kabah
Today, visit the ancient city of Uxmal, one of the most impressive and important sites of Mayan culture. Discover the many beautiful buildings including the House of the Magician, the nunnery and the House of Turtles. Continue to Kabah, with its amazing Palace of the Masks, covered in almost 300 masks of the rain god Chaac. Later, return to Mérida.
Day 4 Celestún Biosphere
Drive to the Celestún Biosphere, famed as one of the largest breeding grounds of pink flamingos* and home to a wealth of plant species, some endemic. Take a boat ride through the estuaries of the Ria Celestún, observing flamingo colonies and many other species of birds, as well as the areas vast mangrove forests, shallow lagoons, and coastal marshes before heading back to Mérida.
Day 5 Mérida to Cancun
After this incredible adventure it is time to unwind on Mexico’s famous powder sand beaches. Transfer to your hotel in Cancun.
Days 6-11 Cancun
Your hotel is set on a lovely stretch of powder white sand and its sharp, chic, contemporary design creates a stark contrast to the piercing blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. Spend the next week relaxing in this gorgeous spot. Enjoy a cocktail at the swim up bar and devour delicious cuisine at the hotel’s many on site restaurants. Alternatively, opt to head out for a day trip to explore the rest of this stunning coastline including Playa Del Carmen’s palm-lined beaches or atmospheric Tulum. The perfect, relaxing end to your Mexican adventure.
Days 12-13 Fly home
*April to May is nesting season for the flamingos and therefore numbers at Celestún are greatly reduced.
