Itinerary
Day 1 Washington DC
Fly to Washington DC. America’s capital is home to numerous iconic buildings including the White House and the Capitol as well as a variety of exciting neighbourhoods waiting to be discovered.
Days 2-3 Washington DC
Explore the National Mall, a two-mile park where you’ll find many of the city’s famous landmarks including the stately Lincoln Memorial and the towering National Monument. Many of the famous Smithsonians are located here too including the National Air & Space Museum. Beyond the monuments and museums, there is plenty more to enjoy, from shopping in historic Georgetown to waterside dining at the Wharf.
Day 4 Washington DC to Pittsburgh
Pick up your car and head through Pennsylvania to the vibrant riverside city of Pittsburgh. For amazing views of the skyscrapers, rivers and bridges, ride the historic funicular railway (known locally as ‘Inclines’) up the steep hillside.
Day 5 Pittsburgh
Take in the city’s wealth of arts and culture, including the fantastic Andy Warhol Museum or alternatively enjoy hiking and biking along the riverside trails. In the evening watch a live performance in the Cultural District, dine out in the hip Lawrenceville neighbourhood or enjoy a craft beer at one of the cool brew pubs.
Day 6 Pittsburgh to Niagara Falls
Cross into New York State and Canada’s border to reach Niagara Falls.
Day 7 Niagara Falls
Time to tick the most famous waterfall in the world off your bucket list! Niagara’s thundering waters need to be seen to be believed. This immense waterfall comprises three individual falls, which create the iconic thundering sound from which its name derives.
Day 8 Niagara Falls to Ithaca
Continue onwards to the charming lakeside town of Ithaca, the gateway to the splendid Finger Lakes region.
Day 9 The Finger Lakes
Made up of 11 long, narrow lakes, this picturesque part of New York State is home to over 100 vineyards, many of which can be discovered on the ‘wine trail’. You will also find rocky gorges and hundreds of pretty waterfalls including Taughannock Falls, the tallest waterfall in northeastern United States.
Day 10 Ithaca to New York
Your last stop is the incomparable New York City! Drop off your car before heading into the city.
Days 11-13 New York
There’s no city quite like New York and whether it’s your first time here or you’re a seasoned visitor, there’s always so much to see and discover. Perhaps head to the top of a skyscraper for panoramic vistas from the observation deck or walk across Brooklyn Bridge whilst admiring the famous skyline. In the evenings, explore exciting Soho and Greenwich Village or see a show on Broadway. The Big Apple never disappoints.
