Victoria Falls Holidays
africa
Located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is one of the world’s most impressive natural wonders. Named by explorer David Livingstone in 1855 in honour of Queen Victoria, the falls are known locally as ‘the smoke that thunders’, for their immense spray.
Witness this spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site from either the Victoria Falls National Park on the Zimbabwe side or from the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambian side. To get to Victoria Falls, you can either fly into Victoria Falls airport in Zimbabwe or Livingstone airport in Zambia and there is a wide range of hotels to stay in on either side.
Deciding whether to stay on the Zambian or Zimbabwe side may depend on your choice of hotel, the time of year or which activities you want to enjoy at the falls. Whichever side you choose, this immense mass of water is a sight to behold.
Trailfinders offers a range of Victoria Falls holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore Victoria Falls on a sociable small group adventure tour, or are looking for advice on a multi centre holiday – they are the perfect people to ask.

Victoria Falls from Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls
Choosing to stay on the Zimbabwean side allows access to 75% of the falls themselves with a network of 16 awe-inspiring viewpoints, all within walking distance of the town.
Even at the height of the dry season there is usually some flow visible from the Zimbabwean side, while the pristine wilderness of Zambezi National Park is also close by.
Victoria Falls from Zambia - Livingstone
Although there are fewer viewing points on this side, you will be rewarded with wonderful views of the length of the falls, of Victoria Falls Bridge and of Batoka Gorge.
Bear in mind that at the height of the dry season, the water in the Zambian section can dry up completely leaving a rugged rock face. The Zambian side also offers easy access to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park – home to a variety of birdlife, herds of elephant, giraffe and pods of hippo.
