The sunny town of Nelson boasts boutique galleries and cafés along its charming tree-lined avenues and is the pick-up point for most day tours into the park. Alternately, base yourself in the park itself and enjoy hikes into the wilderness and sea kayaking or snorkelling in the pristine waters. Keep an eye out for playful dolphins!

An abundance of marine life resides in the nutrient-rich waters with giant sperm whales and dusky dolphins making this their home year round, as well as other migratory whale species including humpbacks and magnificent orcas.
